we will study the simplification of various fractions as well as the conversion of a fraction into decimal, percentage or any other equivalent. A fraction is a number representing part of a whole.

The whole may be a single object or a group of objects. Let us consider 6/11 is a fraction. We read it as “Six-elevenths”. 11 is the number of equal parts into which the whole has been divided. 6 is the number of equal parts which have been taken out. Here 6 is called the numerator and 11 is called the denominator. Proper fractions. A proper fraction is a number representing part of a whole. In a proper fraction the denominator shows the number of parts into which the whole is divided and the numerator shows the number of parts which have been considered. Therefore, in a proper fraction the numerator is always less than the denominator. Improper fractions. An improper fraction is a number in which the numerator is always greater than the denominator.

Videos for Classes 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are available as animations and are also led by teachers. All videos are mapped to chapters of the NCERT book which ensures students are able to understand key concepts chapter-wise. Experiment-based videos enable students to learn key scientific concepts. These videos are helpful when students cannot access a laboratory or need a demo-based example to grasp concepts.
