The Modi government is preparing to work 4 days a week instead of 5 days and get 3 days off instead of 2 days. Under the new Labor Codes being introduced in the country, three days off a week may be available in the coming days.

The new Labor Code will also include this option in the rules on which the company and the employee can decide by internal agreement. Under the new rules, the government has increased working hours to 12 hours. The working week has a maximum limit of 48 hours per week, in which case the working days may decrease but the hours may increase.

Proposed 12 working hours
The new draft law proposes to increase the maximum working hours to 12. The draft rules of the code also provide for overtime, including 15 to 30 minutes of overtime. Under the current rule, less than 30 minutes of overtime is not considered appropriate. The draft rules prohibit any employee from working more than 5 hours continuously. Employees will be given a half hour rest every five hours.
Wages will decrease and PF will increase
According to the new draft rule, the basic salary should be 50 percent or more of the total salary. So that the pay structure of most employees will change. Take home celery may go down but the amount of PF may go up. After the new salary code comes into force, employers will have to pay 50 per cent of the CTC to the employee in the form of basic salary. So that the contribution of employees to other components like PF and gratuity will increase.
